humor me

i know i've done a post like this once or twice before, but guys, i'm really proud of myself.

i'm increasingly less germaphobic; this is  really, really cool for me.

signs of progress

  • daily usage of school restroom (note: 7th grade through 10th grade it was exceedingly rare for me to step foot in any public facility.)
  • backpack anywhere. it used to be that i would only put my backpack in the garage and take out the items i needed and carry them to my basement desk (note: the original purpose of my basement office was so i wouldn't mix school items with my bedroom--a forbidden concept in germaphobe world.) now, though i still don't do homework in my room, i'd like to think i would be able to have my backpack in there. maybe by the door.
  • i do a lot of my homework on my basement couch. textbooks are now strewn across the floor. this wouldn't have happened maybe even a year ago.
  • recently...occasionally.. i haven't immediately changed out of my school clothes after school. i've sat in my school clothes on regular couches and chairs.  WOAHH WHAA?!! YES. and i'm sitting on a couch right now that i have sat on with my school clothes and  i don't care at all.
                                                    fucking awesome.

i haven't been this disturbed by a music video since that hoobastank one

sleep when you're dead

i was just thinking about how much i love the saying "sleep when you're dead!"

not only do you completely own whoever just rejected you by saying that, but it's a phrase that holds a lot of fucking depth.

don't get me wrong, i love sleeping, so i like to think "sleep when you're dead" means stop planning and organizing and stressing about the dumbest shit when we're all gon' die anyway- just live life to enjoy yourself. (i don't mean live soley hedonistically... but living without stressin about the little shit.)

not that i would ever practice this particular preaching.

self discoveries

after a hundred years of being asked what my hobbies are, i finally have answers. i'm really proud of myself. also--gon' throw a few verbs, a few nouns, a few shitty sentences, a few texting-only words on the list just to mix things up a bit [ironic winky face]

meghan's hobbies
1. discovering the utter shit/utter brilliance of my iPod while on shuffle. don't you love listening to a song you haven't listened to it two years and remembering your obsession with it? good timezzz
2. sleepin
3. awkward television obsessions w relatively short life-spans and awkward'r tv crushes (see current one)
4. THE REAL REASON I'M WRITING THIS DOWN: figuring out the connections between celebrities. example: seeing a celeb on twitter is following another celeb; if a celeb tags another celeb in a pic; if theres a picture of two randoms without an explanation----i will think short&not hard about reasons they'd know each other (movies, tv shows, guest episodes, having a celeb in common, which celeb in common, where they'd both know that celeb from, etc). only occassionally do i cheat and use imdb and i'm really good at it. if you've been wondering about a connection or wanna give me names of two celebs, i will totes think about it for ya!!!!!!!

:(

today's successful investigations into my mind-archive. my most lucrative (and impressive) skill happens to be my most charitable! who wuda thot

-kristen bell is following mae whitman on twitter because dax shepard is kristen's bf and he's on parenthood with mae (easy)
-emma stone and kat dennings have both spoke separately about going over to paul mccartney's house. were they together? yes. why? because they were in house bunny together and emma knows woody harrelson from zombieland and woody is friends with paul! BAM (hard)

"do i still love him? no"

she a pro.

"because it holds entertainment value...for me!"

i will now participate in sharing a recent conversation i had with a family member. please note: it won't be as funny as sonia's and it won't be as interesting as tina's. [said like Rob Lowe in Parks & Recreation] but, i found it to be personally, quite a fascinating look into my father's mind.

this morning we shared an argument about his favorite movies of all time, Serendipity and The Proposal. y'all probably haven't seen Serendipity--it was a shitty 2001 rom-com with kate beckinsale, john cusack and an atrocious plot-line...that i've of course seen cuz it was on netflix-instant and why not.

anyway, i just wanted to list a series of completely invalid points my father made during this argument while he put his hands on his hips and stared at me sternly (intermittently glancing at my mom for back up, to which she made no reply)

  • [on why Serendipity doesn't suck] "Because it holds entertainment value...for me!"
    • this is the dumbest, most vague assertion i've ever heard, every movie holds entertainment value, that doesn't mean it doesn't have the ability to suck
  • [on why the dad from the proposal is the funniest character] "Because every rom-com* needs to have a NAYSAYER! A NAYSAYER! In this case, it is Craig T. Nelson, Meg, and you are just going to have to deal with that! Please!"
    • not only is this point completely random, but i have no idea why he ends up pleading with me to understand the structure of movies
  • [probably as he's interrupting one of my very vaild points] "Listen, listen.. give me a name. What is one of your favorite movies? HUH? What is one of your favorite movies...and how about...how about I tell you if I like it. Hmm?"
    • this was so immature I had to run out of the room screaming, "Yous a child! Yous a child! Go cry to John Cusack cuz yous a child!"
  • [Me coming back into the room with a fresh cup of coffee] "Obviously man, my favorites are critically-acclaimed masterpieces and you just need to own up to the fact that you are prone to liking every crappy movie Sandra Bullock makes." To which he replied... "NO! NO! ... You know what's at the top of my list? Hmm? It's Casablanca."
    • OK. Not only did he claim that his favorite movie is the most romantic movie ever made, but he knew I hadn't seen it. This was a childish attempt to establish his superiority.
  • [Again, randomly] "You know the naysayer from Serendipity? What's his name? Ummm...from that HBO show that just ended..?" I say, "Entourage. Jeremy Piven." "Right...so like I said.. What's your favorite movie? JUST TELL ME."
    • i have no idea where he was going with that
and then i left.
*yes, he uses the word "rom-com" , and does so without a trace of irony... :(
