once in a lifetime - the talking heads

i don't know what kind of karmic retribution is being slapped in my face right now, but i've got two year old feelings on the inside, and it stings. i would like to say the sting is being emitted from wasting my friday night babysitting and only getting....an annoying amount of payment in return. but mostly it's because i haven't recieved four textbacks, one from my own mother, who i know was perfectly capable of texting back. upon arriving back at home from friday-night-time-wasting-babysitting she was sitting on the couch saying, "i got your text." like this is some sort of settlement for her lack of initiative. let it be known: it is not. fuck you.

no, no, no, texting is frivolous and stupid. but in this day and age, as losers like my self reference it, texting is a major form of communication. and even though one can reflect on the emotional consequences of non-textbacks as plain stupid, it in no way diminishes said feelings. there is always an excuse for not texting back, and a nonreciever has been and will at some point be a nonreplyist. it's just a matter of maturity.

as always i've elaborated way too much. let's talk about school. i'm just wondering, have you guys drawn a line as to when school prep becomes necessary and when school prep because useless/stupid/not worth it? as the days go by (i just heard that song) my internal nerd becomes quieter and quieter and i find myself consistently labeling homework assignments as unimportant, not worth it, and you know, stupid. i'm taking chances with my grades, and feeling the full weight of that. well, not exactly in this case as my conscience is less muddled than it normally would be over subsiding grades.  but that is the path i've chosen...just kidding.

i just saw a large snippet of confessions of a shopaholic---it's much less bad than i remembered it. ch-ch-check it out ( - the beastie boys)

That's funny you would mention the whole importance of homework thing, because I feel really strongly about how insignificant much of our homework is. I believe that it actually detracts from our natural desire to learn. In fact one day instead of doing my homework I wrote pages and pages about how messed up our education system is and how we should reform. I was strangely impassioned about this issue.

But the messed up part is that I then obediently finished my homework at 3 in the morning.

Sorry this comment is so long.
